Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom announces a N1.04B bonus as part of celebrations for Public Service Week.
Governor Umo Eno has announced a bonus of N1.04 billion for workers of the Akwa Ibom State Government to commemorate the 2024 Public Service Week. The announcement was made during a special thanksgiving service held at the International Worship Centre, Uyo, marking the culmination of a week-long celebration by public servants.
Expressing gratitude for the collaborative efforts of the Akwa Ibom State Government workforce in supporting the ARISE Agenda, Governor Umo Eno emphasized his solidarity with the public servants and their dedication. He praised the integrity and prudent management of Elder Effiong Essien, the Head of Civil Service, describing him as an exemplary public servant.
Governor Umo Eno directed the State Accountant-General to ensure that each of the 52,000 civil servants across the state receives a bonus of N20,000 in the first week of July. This gesture, he noted, is a token of appreciation and celebration of their service.
Furthermore, Governor Umo Eno reiterated his administration's commitment to achieving food sufficiency in Akwa Ibom State. He highlighted his recent visit to a model farm in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area and commended the efforts of the Hon. Otong Aaron-led Transition Committee in this regard.
Addressing the future of human capacity development within the civil service, Governor Umo Eno announced plans to enhance facilities at the Civil Service Training Centre. He also mentioned ongoing arrangements for a partnership between IBOM Led and ASCON in Lagos for the training of senior civil servants, aimed at improving efficiency through modern tools.
In recognition of their contributions to the conducive work environment enjoyed by civil servants, awards were presented to the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Ekaette Obot, the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Elder Udeme Otong, and Governor Umo Eno himself. This gesture celebrated their collaborative efforts across the Judiciary, Legislative, and Executive arms of the state government.
